Tips on Keeping Your Braces in Tip-Top Shape When You Travel

Posted .

The holiday season is a popular time to travel. We all visit our family members and friends and celebrate special times. As you travel, it’s important to take good care of your braces and do everything you can to keep them in tip-top shape. Doing so can help you stay on track toward your dream smile while you’re on the road. Some tips our orthodontists, Dr. Michael Hiller, would like to give you to help you care for your appliance include:

-Keep up on oral hygiene: You should brush your teeth after you eat and then floss your teeth at least once a day. If you can floss more, do it. To do these things, you need to remember to pack your oral hygiene tools as well as flossing helpers that make flossing easier.

-Reschedule your adjustment appointment: If you’re out of town when you’re due for your next adjustment appointment, then it’s best to reschedule it. Let us know as soon as possible so we can help you choose an appointment time that is right for you.

-Stay away from braces-harming foods: You know the products that can harm your braces (hard, sticky, and hard-to-eat foods), so please avoid them at all costs. You don’t want to break a bracket or wire while you’re away because it can cause treatment complications.
